Color Theory in Watercolor and Gouache- Teens and Adults
Online Class
Saturdays, 11:00am-12:30PM EST
Lauren Montgomery, Instructor
Starts: Nov 7
Ends: Dec 12
6 weeks
For teens and adults
In Color Theory in Watercolor and Gouache students will learn the basics of how color works. By making their own color wheel, they will learn about the relationships between colors. Each week will feature a new topic on color mixing and color combinations. The lessons are cumulative, in that students will apply what they learned the previous week to the current lesson. Students will look at works of other artists such as Van Gogh, Monet, Vermeer, Mondrian, and many more artists who use color theory in their own work.
Two activities will be done each week: the first is to understand more about the featured topic and the second is to apply what they learned to their own work. As well as learning about color theory, they will also gain an understanding on how light, value, and form.
Students will learn (in age appropriate lessons):
Hue, Saturation and Value
Tint and Shade
Meaning of Color
Mark Making and Pointillism
Joseph Albers- the father of Modern Color Theory
Color Harmonies using:
Complimentary, Analogous, Triadic and Split Complimentary palettes
