Maria studied briefly at Michael John Angel Studios, Toronto, The School of Representational Art, Chicago, at the University of Chicago (math/philosophy), and was an apprentice to Odd Nerdrum for roughly three years, also contributing to his philosophical writings on the Kitsch concept. Her most recent solo show opened summer 2011 in Oslo, Norway (Gallerie Pan).

Current Workshop: The Living Portrait (in graphite)

This workshop will focus on creating both the likeness of the model and also emotional expression, bringing the portrait to life using the special beauty and simplicity of the graphite medium. Kreyn will offer both critiques and an in-class demonstration.
