Why hold this event?

As part of our mission to serve the North Shore of Long Island by teaching traditional techniques of drawing and painting, we feel its important to appreciate the beauty of the North Shore landscape. The Plein Air painting movement is sweeping across the United States with many “paint outs”, large and small. With such rich natural vistas, there is no reason for Oyster bay not to join in this movement.

Open to all plein air painters and draftsmen, in any traditional media: oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastel, charcoal, etc. No photography, mixed media, sculpture, etc. No photography allowed.  Online entry only, through our website. No entry forms will be accepted at the school. The juror will select participants and award prizes using one criteria only: the quality of the work.
